1st XI - 22.04.2018 - Waringstown (H)

On a glorious sunny Spring day Muckamore entertained Waringstown in a 40 over pre season friendly match at Moylena on Saturday. With Captain Neil Gill resting a slight back injury and several regular first team players still unavailable Muckamore fielded a slightly under strength team. The visitors batted first and scored 256 runs in their allocated overs. Their top scorers were J McCollum with 68 runs and L Nelson with 70 runs. Best of the Muckamore bowlers were Pavan Kartik who took 5 wickets for 46 runs, Aditya Adey who took 2 wickets for 37 runs and Sam Gordon who took 2 wickets for 50 runs. Muckamore could only score 157 runs in reply to lose the game by 99 runs. Muckamore’s top batsmen were Craig Drummond with 36 runs, Aswan Shetty with 21 runs, Jamie Magowan with 15 runs and John Jackson with 14 runs not out. Best of the Waringstown bowlers were G Thompson who took 3 wickets for 25 runs, M Purse who took 3 wickets for 26 runs and G Kidd who took 2 wickets for 29 runs. Muckamore included David Miller in their team, an Australian of Ulster decent to play his first game.  This week the season starts in earnest with the first game at home against newly promoted Armagh which will be very important for both team to get their season off to a win. Disappointing news that Shoaib Khan the Pakistani player recruited for the incoming season has suffered a severe leg injury in match last week will not now be coming but it is hope to have him replaced by another top class player within a couple of weeks.

Fixture for this Saturday – Firsts v Armagh at home – Thirds v Instonians Thirds away – Sixths v Laurelvale Thirds at Home. On Sunday the Muckamore Bluebells have their first game at home to CSNI. No starting times have yet been fixed for any of these matches.
