On a fine brilliant Easter Saturday Muckamore entertained Ballymena in their final pre season friendly Muckamore batted first and scored a massive 281 runs in their allocated 40 overs. Their top scorers were Aditya Adey with 65 runs, James Rogers with 67 runs, Marcus O’Riordan with 41 runs, Luke Allen with 43 runs and David Miller with 43 runs. Normal cricket weather returned for last Saturday, the first official day of the season, and of course it was accompanied by the heavy rain which forced the postponement of all Muckamore’s scheduled games. Fortunately the rain relented and the Fourths league game against the Belfast International Sports Club Seconds went ahead at Moylena on Sunday. The visitors batted first and with the help of 31 extras scored 158 runs for 8 wickets in their allocated 30 overs. Their top batsmen were W Aziz and H Rao who both scored 43 runs. Best of the Muckamore bowlers were S Harish who took 3 wickets for 24 runs and G Sanu who took 2 wickets for 32 runs. Muckamore replied to score 159 runs for the loss of only 4 wickets to win the game by 6 wickets with 2 overs to spare. Their top batsmen were B George who scored 37 runs, S Dileep who scored 36 runs and R Manjeev and A Oduvelil who both scored 18 runs with Mr Extras helping out with 31 runs. This Sunday the Fourths travel to play Lisburn Thirds in their next league match.

Benji Cathcart, the Captain of the Seconds, organised a friendly game against Ards at Moylena on Sunday and his team batted first in this 25 over match and scored 189 runs for 5 wickets. Their top batsmen were D Miller who scored 56 runs, J Gaw who scored 43 runs, P Heyburn who scored 34 runs and B Cathcart who scored 32 runs. Best of the Ards bowlers were S Ingram who took 2 wickets for 21 runs and C Balfour who took 2 wickets for 26 runs. Teenage Muckamore bowlers Jude Keates and Bradley Hodge both took a wicket with their first delivery but Ards recovered to take their score to 120 runs in just 12 overs before Peter Heyburn took a wicket to break the deadlock. Wickets tumbled and in an exciting finish the last Ards batsman was caught by Luke Allen off a Bradley Hodge delivery to end their 180 run innings with just eight deliveries remaining to clinch this narrow 8 run victory. Ards top batsmen were A Savage who scored 75 runs and C Balfour who scored 27 runs. Best of the Muckamore bowlers were Bradley Hodge who took 3 wickets for 31 runs, Jo Davis who took 2 wickets for 17 runs and Jude Keates who took 2 wickets for 41 runs. This Saturday the Seconds are at home to Waringstown Seconds.
