MUCKAMORE CRICKET
The wet weather during last week severely hampered the preparation of the
wicket at Moylena. The soggy conditions prevented the groundsmen from
carrying out their usual meticulous work in preparing the wicket for Saturday’s
game. A wicket was eventually prepared but despite the best efforts and on such
a bright sunny warm day the surface was considered too soft and dangerous to
play on and the vital relegation game against Instonians was cancelled. This
Saturday the Firsts travel to play Carrickfergus and will play another vital
relegation game against rivals Lisburn on Sunday at Moylena.
Muckamore Seconds travelled to Shaw’s Bridge on Saturday to play Instonians

Pavan Kumar came to the rescue. He aggressively attacked the Ballymena
bowling striking 3x4s and 4x6s to score 42 runs to help take his team’s score to
54 runs before he top edged the ball high into the air to be caught by the
wicketkeeper. Then the remaining batsmen Trevor Barnett, Peter Heyburn,
Joanne Davis and David Cardwell scrambled the remaining 17 runs needed to
clinch the very valuable three wicket victory to keep the team in the race to
avoid relegation. This Saturday the Thirds travel to play league leaders CIYMS
Thirds for their next game.
